Co-founded by sax supremo Derek Nash and award-winning guitarist Dominic Ashworth, Picante has recorded two critically acclaimed albums, Five Note Salsa and Bim Bam Bom.

Taking its inspiration from Buena Vista Social Club, Spyrogyra, Sergio Mendes, Stan Getz/Astrid Gilberto, and the Gypsy Kings, Picante delivers a fierce, high-energy blend of mambo, salsa, samba, and bossa nova that leaves audiences wanting more! 

DEREK NASH: Jools Holland’s lead saxophonist for over 20 years, multi-award winner Derek is arguably the busiest jazz musician in the UK today. One of the most enthusiastic and engaging performers, he's also one of the hottest saxophone players around.

​Aside from fronting his own groups, and co-leading The Wonder of Stevie with Noel McCalla, Derek has regularly performed, recorded and guested with a diverse range of artists, including Eric Clapton, Booker T., Sir Paul McCartney, Mezzoforte, Sir Tom Jones, Amy Winehouse, Jack Bruce, Bob Dorough, Rumer, David Benoit, Ernie Watts, Nelson Rangell, Don and Dave Grusin, and Shakatak. 

DOMINIC ASHWORTH: A highly acclaimed, Canadian-born jazz and classical guitarist, composer, and educator, ​Dominic Ashworth has been a prominent fixture on the British music scene for over three decades.

​Citing a wide range of musical influencess such as J.S. Bach, George Benson, Duke Ellington, Wes Montgomery, Jim Hall, Charlie Parker, and Paco de Lucia, Dominic is known for his flawless technique, expressive musicality, and quiet authority.

During an illustrious career, Dominic has toured, performed, and recorded alongside an array of major artists across the UK jazz spectrum, including Carol Kidd, George Melly, Paul Jones, Michael Garrick, and Digby Fairweather.
